EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE by Judith McNaught
Romance is in the air when Judith McNaught starts writing, and she summons every ounce of romance she possesses and pours it into her new novel EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE. This one should be written on inflammable paper; it is that hot.
The book concerns the relationship between myserious millionaire Mitchell Wyatt and Chicago restaurant owner Kate Donovan. They meet while on vacation and the chemistry between them is instantly combustible.
It doesn't matter that Kate has a boyfriend who will be joining her as soon as he finishes trying a major case. Nor does it matter that Mitchell is a total playboy who never, ever gets involved in serious relationships.
Of course the road to love never runs smoothly and Mitchell and Kate have more than a few obstacles in their way. For one thing Mitchell is a suspect in the murder of his brother William. And later there is a kidnapping that really throws a wrench into everything.
What is really important about this book is how convincing the love affair between Mitchell and Kate is. McNaught manages to paint one steamy scene after another without being totally explicit. Plus she manages to keep the storyline moving too. Now that's talent.
If you like romance and mystery in equal doses, well this is a book to put on your "must read" list. Judith McNaught always spins a good story but this is one of her very best. You will be caught up in the magic of the story from page one till the very end.
The passion portrayed in this story is convincing, as are the heartbreak and drama that ensue. McNaught puts her readers through the emotional wringer but in a way they will love.
EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE is published by Ballantine Books. It contains 352 pages and sells for $25.95.
