SCREAM FOR ME by Karen Rose
Karen Rose has written a terrifically suspenseful and entertaining book in SCREAM FOR ME. With a superb talent for characters and events, she weaves a tale of madness and murder. There are plot lines intersecting other plot lines as a killer recreates a murder from the past and does it over and over and over. You have to hang on to your seat as you endure this bumpy ride of murder and misfortune in a small southern town.
Alex Fallon is a woman who has known her fair share of trouble. When she was a teenager her twin sister was raped and murdered. After her death Alex’s mother killed herself and Alex attempted suicide. In the depths of despair she was rescued by her mother’s sister and her family.
Years later Alex is called back to her hometown of Dutton, Georgia because her half sister Bailey has disappeared. Her small daughter Hope has been found abandoned at their house. Alex races to Dutton to take care of Hope and to try to find out what has happened to Bailey.
Meanwhile Special Agent Daniel Vartanian is in Dutton investigating a new murder. It is a duplication of the murder of Alex’s sister. Either the earlier killer has returned or there is a copy-cat killer on the loose. Daniel is very familiar with serial killers as his brother Simon was one. He is now dead but during the years of his life he killed a variety of people.
This is a very complicated story and it is difficult at times to keep all the parties and plots straight. Still you will be fascinated with every aspect of the book and will love every minute you spend reading it.
This book was my first introduction to Karen Rose but it definitely won’t be my last. Her name goes on my short list of must read authors and I will be anxiously awaiting her next book. When you find a writer this good you don’t let him/her get away.
If you like mysteries that have complex characters and truly twisted plots then this is a story you don’t want to miss. Plus Rose throws a good bit of romance into the mix, stirs it all up, and produces a winner.
SCREAM FOR ME is a book that doesn’t have to scream to get your attention. That is done by your reading the very first few pages. Once you have done that you are hooked for the duration of the story.
SCREAM FOR ME is published by Grand Central Publishing. It contains 436 pages and sells for $16.99.
