WHITE HOT by Sandra Brown

Sandra Brown is at the top of her game with her new novel WHITE HOT. This story takes place in the heat ridden state of Louisiana where a corrupt family holds control over an entire town. This dynasty of evil commits one sin after another against the local population and lives off the riches they accrue from other people's sweat. But a day of reckoning is coming and that is what this story is all about.

Sayre Lynch is the daughter of Huff Hoyle but that is a fact of nature she is trying to forget. It has been years since she fled the family home in Louisiana and established a career for herself in San Francisco. Now, however, she is coming home. She has learned that her brother Danny has committed suicide and she wants to be at his funeral.

When she arrives she is met by Back Merchant, the Hoyle family attorney. He gives her some startling information. The investigator in the sheriff's office thinks Danny's death may have been murder. Later she learns that the numbers one suspect is she and Danny's older brother Chris.

The patriarch of the family, Huff Hoyle, dismisses these accusations against Chris as just crazy talk, but Sayre has a feeling they might be true. At any rate she decides to stay in town until they have been either proven or disproved. Huff is happy to have Sayre back in town. He thinks he can exert his power over her and bring her back into the fold. Sayre is determined to prove him wrong.

While this is all going on Sayre and Beck begin to feel a mutual attraction for each other. Both fight their feelings, as they know a relationship could only further complicate their heavily complicated lives. Still the attraction is white hot and can not be denied.

This is the perfect kind of story for an author as provocative as Brown to write. Writing about family intrigue is her forte' and she knows how to handle a steamy story of love and seduction. All of the elements at which she excels are captured in this gripping and smoldering novel.

If you want a book that is full of passion then this is the novel for you. It is a story about twisted psyches and obsessed personalities. It is set in a town where power rules and weakness is trampled. Brutality and murder are the order of the day, at least until someone with courage and stamina changes the landscape.

Say hello to Sandra Brown and say good-bye to a few hours of your time. WHITE HOT is a novel that will pull you into its plot and make you a Louisiana native for the duration of the read.

WHITE HOT is published by Simon and Schuster. It contains 419 pages and sells for $25.95.
