ON THE RUN by Iris Johansen

Iris Johansen returns to the world of best sellers with a new novel that is full of romance, danger and adventure. ON THE RUN is Johansen at her perilous best as she tells the story of a woman with a past, and a man without a future. What they do have is a daughter who holds the key to hope for both of them.

Grace Archer and her daughter Frankie are living on a horse farm in Alabama when the book opens. Unknown to Frankie they are there as part of a "witness protection" type program orchestrated by the CIA. Grace used to be an agent and now she lives in fear of being discovered by a man who wants her and her daughter dead.

One day Grace's cover is blown and she and Frankie are quickly in harm's way. Marvot, the maniac who wants her and Frankie, has sent his men to capture them and bring them to his home in Africa. There Grace will be forced to train two horses, known as "the pair," for him. They hold some sort of fascination for Marvot and Grace is the only one who can break them from their wild ways.

Doing everything he can to keep Grace and Frankie safe is Jake Kilmer. He once was Grace's boss and lover, and he is Frankie's dad. Grace hates him and wants him to stay out of her life, but soon she discovers he is the best chance for survival that she and Frankie have.

Johansen is a wizard at writing suspenseful tales that race across countries and continents. She is also first rate when it comes to creating exciting characters and tense situations. In ON THE RUN she creates excitement in the first few pages and keeps it going until the story is ended.

Johansen is also no slouch in the romance department. Grace and Jake sizzle when they find themselves anywhere in the proximity of each other. Although they both fight the heat, they know they are fated to be together. Seeing them fight the battle and then ultimately surrender makes for some of the most intense pleasure of the book.

So if you are looking for a book about romance, danger or suspense ON THE RUN is the one for you. It will fill the order for all three genres. Iris Johansen is a master storyteller and in this book she turns her talent up to full volume.

ON THE RUN is published by Bantam Books. It contains 352 pages and sells for $26.00.
