"It Was One Of Us" (Lifetime)

Five women end up being blackmailed on the new Lifetime original movie "It Was One of Us." Sarah Joy Brown, Marissa Janet Winokur, Kira Clavell, Elisa Donovan and Jordan Ladd lead the cast as five women who go to a class reunion and share secrets of their lives. Upon their return home they each get a letter demanding money or these secrets will be revealed. Who is doing the blackmailing, and is it like the title says "one of them"?

Carson (Donovan), Teddy (Winokur), Wendy (Clavell), Emily (Brown) and Avis (Ladd) go back to their college alma mater for their ten year reunion. While there Emily suggests they each reveal secrets about their pasts. One by one the women reveal a secret about themselves, something no one else knows. It is also something that they need desperately to keep secret.

When they return to their various homes in the city they each get a letter in the mail demanding twenty thousand dollars or their secret will be revealed. Desperate to find out who is doing this and why, the women turn on each other. 

Sarah Joy Brown is the outstanding actress in this cast. She plays the sexiest member of the quintet. Her character also displays the most emotions of any member of the group. A close second is Jordan Ladd. She makes Avis the weakest member of the group and the one who is the most pitiable.

Elisa Donovan and Marissa Janet Winokur are also good. Their roles are just not as showy as the others. Kira Clavell is the least effective in her role. Jim Thorburn and Shawn Roberts are the main males in the cast.

The movie is fun to watch right up to the end when the plot just falls apart. But even a weak ending is not enough to negate the fun of watching this group of young women race to expose the blackmailer.

This is not the typical "Lifetime" message movie. Instead this one is just for fun. A bright cast and an inventive plot make this is a movie that will entertain you for the most part. It might not be highbrow entertainment but it is entertainment just the same.
