"Nora Roberts' Angels Fall" (Lifetime)

Nora Roberts is one of the most successful writers of romantic fiction working today. Lifetime Television specializes in movies for and about women. Therefore having these two entities join forces seems to be a very good idea. And they have. Over the next few weeks four of Nora Roberts' most successful novels will make the transition to your TV screen. The first of these is based on her latest best seller ANGELS FALL.

Heather Locklear stars as Reese Gilmore, a young woman whose car breaks down on the outskirts of the Wyoming town called Angels Fall. While her car is being fixed Reese gets a job as a cook at the local diner. While working there she meets a mystery writer named Brody (Jonathan Schaech).

One day when Reese is hiking in the mountains she looks down and observes an argument going on between a man and a woman. She sees this through her binoculars and can not get a clear image of the man. She does see him kill the woman. When she reports it to the local sheriff he doesn't seem to believe her. Only Brody stands by her. That is a good thing because soon the killer comes after her.

Roberts' book makes for an enjoyable film. There is enough romance and mystery to keep viewers attentive. Plus Locklear and Schaech make an attractive couple. One thing though, Locklear's face looks a little bloated especially around the cheekbones. Also her upper lip looks puffy. She is such a pretty woman that she still looks good, but her "new look" is a little distracting.

The scenery, the story and the acting all make "Nora Roberts' Angels Fall" a film to enjoy. It isn't high drama in any sense of the word but it is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours being entertained.

Coming up in the next few weeks are "Montana Sky," "Blue Smoke" and "Carolina Moon." With any luck the presentations will just get better and better. And hopefully the female stars of the next presentations won't have tampered with their looks.

"Nora Roberts Angels Fall" premieres on Lifetime, January 29 at 9PM.
