"World's Funniest Commercials" (TBS)
Most of us spend our TV watching time trying to avoid commercials. After all isn't that why TiVo was invented? Then along comes a program titled "World's Funniest Commercials" and we find ourselves not only watching a slew of commercials but also enjoying them to the fullest. Yes that is what TBS is offering us this month - a one-hour special of the best and brightest commercials from around the globe.
The hosts for this collection are Kevin Nealon and Susan Yeagley (Nealon's real life wife). They are in Paris and make comments between the showing of the commercial clips. As a rule what they say is not all that funny but I guess you have to have somebody to set up the clips and then comment afterwards - but then maybe it would have been better to just run the clips and forget the hosts.
Some of the commercials are mildly funny while others are hysterical. In more than a few instances they are aimed at adults only. So before you sit down with the kids to watch this collection be aware that some of the content is very adult.
Watching commercials for their entertainment value, now there is a new concept. But with "World's Funniest Commercials" it works. Tune in and see just how funny an advertisement for a product can be.
"World's Funniest Commercials" premieres Thursday, August 30 at 9PM on TBS. |
