“10 Items Or Less” (TBS)

The third season of “10 Items Or Less” kicks off on TBS, January 6 at 11PM. John Lehr and his whacky group of co-stars bring their special brand of comedy to the airwaves and offer it up for your enjoyment. A lot of the dialogue in this series is improvised, how much I don’t know. Estimates run from 100% to 50%.

There is good news and bad news about this season. The bad news is that Jennifer Elise Cox no longer on the show. To me she was one of the funniest members of the cast and the paramount reason to watch the series. The good news is the rest of the cast (Roberta Valderamma, Bob Clendenin, Kirsten Gronfeld, Chris Payne Gilbert and Christopher Liam Moore) are working better as a group than they have done so in the past. They seem to have bonded.

In the first show of this new season Kim Coles is the guest star as the manager of the competing grocery store in their area. She is okay in the role and is probably going to be back for other appearances later in the season. 

This first show is annoyingly entertaining. It has some good laughs but it annoys you just the same. The second show is the real laugh getter. It concerns Leslie (Lehr) adding a laser clinic at the “Greens & Grain” grocery store. To induce customers to have the surgery he goes under the knife with terrible results.

Roberta Valderamma has a major role in this second episode and she is a perfect foil for Lehr. These two are funny as well as heart warming and that makes the episode amazingly fun to watch.

“10 Items Or Less” is not the best show on TV but it is one that grows on you. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the situations and I am not an easy fan of comedies. So give it a try – and be sure to watch more than one episode before you make your decision. Like I said this is the kind of show that grows on you – slowly.
