"Destination Truth" (Sci Fi)
"Destination Truth" is a reality series on the Sci Fi Channel that involves a crew of investigators searching for the "truth" behind some of the world's legends. In the first episode of this year's series Josh Gates and his crew head to Asia to search out the truth behind the "Yeti" legend. Using high-grade technical equipment the team goes to a locale in the Himalayan Mountains area and does the groundwork for proving or disproving the "Yeti" legend.
The team is led by Josh Gates and he is a good man for that position because he is unafraid of the physical requirements of what he does. In the season opener we see him heading into tight places in a cave that no sane man would enter. He is totally devoted to searching out the secrets of these unknown factors.
Plus Gates is a fast man on his feet when speaking to the camera. He can handle all the scientific jargon and make it understandable to the general public. Then he can throw in a few quips that lighten the mood of the situation and make the whole show more entertaining.
Tracking down the "Yeti, the Abominable Snowman" is a fun adventure and one that involves a subject with which most of the world is familiar. Gates and his gang go to the foot of the icy Himalayas in Nepal and set up camp. They get involved with the local populace and try to learn from them what the local lore is about this creature.
In this episode something does happen that sheds light on the "Yeti" mystery. In most of these reality search program there is never a pay-off but on this show there is. You have to watch to see what happens when they go "Yeti" tracking.
The personality of the host, the inherent interest in the Yeti, and the subsequent pay-off of their adventure makes "Destination Truth" a show worth watching. Tune in to the Sci Fi Channel on Wednesday, March 5 at 10PM for the premiere of the second season of "Destination Truth." |
