“Estate of Panic” (Sci Fi)
“Estate of Panic” is another reality series debuting on the Sci Fi Channel and unlike “Cha$e” which premiered last week this show does have some good moments. The premise is that seven people have to compete to find money hidden in rooms and other areas of a ghostly estate. They are from various walks of life and are a variety of ages.
Steve Valentine hosts this show and makes smarmy remarks throughout. The winner ultimately refers to him as the greasy haired guy, which is a good final put down of the host.
The seven people who start out all seem real in their actions and reactions. This is especially true when they are trying to get to the money at the bottom of a barrel of snakes. Those screams we hear are real.
The person with the least money from a room and the last person in the room are eliminated. This means the winner is determined after three separate rooms. Ah but there is a bonus round that adds to the fun.
This isn’t the most exciting show ever created but it does have some fun to it. Oh yes, the prize that is ultimately earned is less than thirty thousand. In this day of million dollar payoffs this seems a bit chincy, but the winner seemed to be happy with it and that’s all that counts. Plus the show was filmed in Argentina so the contestants got a free trip to see that country.
You should be able to pick the winner from the earliest moments of the show. See if you get the clue in the first few scenes. The runner up will be someone who you absolutely don’t expect.
“Estate of Panic” premieres on the Sci Fi Channel, November 12 at 10PM. |
