“Law and Order: Criminal Intent” (USA)
“Law and Order: Criminal Intent” has started a new season on the USA Network. Last week saw the premiere of the series with a plot that featured Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe. This week we get Chris “Mr. Big” Noth back as Detective Logan, and Julianne Nicholson returning as Detective Wheeler.
All through the show I kept thinking of how much Nicholson looks like Annie Lennox with her short red hair and pale skin. Also going through my mind was the fact Logan is so different from “Big.” It is a testament to Noth’s acting skills that he can be so effective as both characters and in such very different ways.
In “Contract” which is this week’s show the detectives are investigating the murder of a gossip columnist. He was killed when a bomb exploded in his car. The investigation of this crime takes Logan and Wheeler to New Orleans where they meet a husband and wife moviemaking team (played by Jeff Garlin and Ileanna Douglas).
They also take a look at a man in the “Witness Protection Program.” This allows Mary McCormack to make a special guest appearance as Mary Shannon, the character from her USA series “In Plain Sight.”
The story is pure “Criminal Intent” in that there is a crime, an investigation and an arrest. This format has been successful in the past and should continue to be. Especially when you have such fine lead actors as Noth, Nicholson and Eric Bogosian.
So make plans to get back into the habit of watching “Law and Order: Criminal Intent.” It’s as good as it ever was and that is saying a lot.
“Law and Order: Criminal Intent - Contract” airs Sunday, June 15 at 9PM. Watch it and be thoroughly entertained. |
