"Matched In Manhattan/Top This Party" (Lifetime)
Lifetime has two more original series that will premiere on January 4. The first is "Matched In Manhattan" and the second is "Top This Party." "Top This Party" is actually two shows "Top This Party - Orange County" and "Top This Party - Las Vegas." In all these shows you get a look at how people are trying to find their perfect companion and how the rich like to party.
"Matched In Manhattan" follows the days in the life of Matt Titus, a matchmaker in New York. He may call himself a relations expert and a dating coach but when it comes right down to it he is a matchmaker. He takes on clients who are looking for Mr. or Miss Right.
In the first episode he deals with a woman named Selene who has moved to New York City from Tennessee. Selene needs a makeover in looks and confidence and Matt takes care of these issues. Then he arranges a date for her with a man who he thinks might be a match.
The premise of this "reality show" is that each week Matt, his wife Tamsen and his assistant Eddie will work with a variety of individuals to find the perfect match for them. We will see how they use their skills to make the dreams of singles come true.
Following this show is "Top This Party - Orange County" and after it "Top This Party - Las Vegas." "Orange County" concerns the work of party planner Brian Dobbin. In the first show he has a rich woman and her assistant as his clients. These two want him to plan a gala party with a Secret Agent theme.
Working with these two women proves to be a nightmare as nothing he suggests suits them and everything they suggest is either impossible or illegal. When he tells them no they explode and it looks like the party is off, but this is TV and he saves the day.
This show highlights how much money there is in this country and how illogically some people spend it. It is "lifestyles of the rich and decadent" and is not a pretty sight to see. These people spend hundred of thousands like it was nothing and have nothing to show for it when the party is over.
With the writers' strike continuing we are going to get more and more reality shows. "Matched" and "Party" are examples of what is in store for us.
"Matched In Manhattan" premieres January 4 at 9:30 PM on Lifetime. The premieres of "Top This Party - Orange County" and "Top This Party - Las Vegas" follow at 10 and 10: 30. |
