“Scare Tactics” (Sci Fi Channel)
Now these are the kind of friends everyone should have. They set you up to be part of a situation where you are guaranteed to be scared out of your mind, and then they call it a joke. With friends like these who needs enemies! But that is exactly the situation that takes place four times in each segment of “Scare Tactics,” a Sci Fi Channel original series.
In one of the first episodes a young woman is working part time as a receptionist at a clinic. A pregnant woman and her husband arrive with the woman obviously in labor. The doctor goes into the back and calls out for the receptionist to help him. She goes into the delivery room and the spawn of Satan is born, scaring her silly.
In another segment a young man is working part time with a group operating a wood chipper. To his horror a member of the team is pushed into the chipper and ground up. He is just sure he is going to be next so he is scared silly.
And on and on it goes. Each segment gets more and more inventive and the participants get scared quicker and with absolute panic in their eyes. The problem is that this is fascinating to watch. As long as we are not the ones getting “punk’d” so to speak, we can watch and laugh and have a great old time. This show is like the traffic accident you can’t help but stare at as you pass it on the highway.
Tracy Morgan of “30 Rock” fame is the host of this show and he adds a lot of humor to the proceedings. He has that deadly dark sense of comedy and he lets it flow out of him in setting up each segment.
If you like to laugh and be frightened at the same time then make sure you tune in to “Scare Tactics” each Wednesday night at 10 on the Sci Fi Channel. You will be so happy you don’t have friends like these while laughing at the predicament of the poor sucker who does. |
