“Stargate Atlantis” (Sci Fi Channel)
“Stargate Atlantis” returns for its fifth season on the Sci Fi Channel. This popular science fiction show gets things off to a rousing start as it ties up some loose ends from last season. Good special effects, an interesting script, and solid acting from each cast member make this a show to enjoy all season long.
In the premiere episode several members of the crew of the Atlantis expedition are trapped on a distant planet when a building is booby trapped. The first order of business is to get these people rescued. One o f those trapped is Lt Colonel Sheppard (Joe Flanigan). He keeps urging his friend Ronon (Jason Momoa) to save himself, but Ronon is hanging tough.
Colonel Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) and her crew are on their way but the question is will they get there in time. There is another problem, their enemy Michael is on the way with his troops to kill the survivors. On board his ship is Teyla (Rachel Luttrell), who is due to have her baby at any moment. Now all Carter has to do is save the people trapped underneath the rubble, fight off Michael, and rescue Teyla. Can she do it? Well she had better hurry because this year she is listed only as a “guest star.”
People who love science fiction, looooove science fiction and “Stargate Atlantis” has a fan following that is large and totally devoted to the show. That is why it has been on the air for four years and shows no signs of slowing down in any way.
Richard Woolsey (Robert Picardo) will assume command of the “Atlantis” Expedition, with Amanda Tapping dropping in from time to time. Paul McGillion will also return for a few shows as Dr. Carson Beckett. Finally, Michael Shanks will also make some appearances as Dr. Daniel Jackson. It looks like a good year all around as the twenty episodes play out.
So tune in every week and see the new world of “Stargate Atlantis.” Joe Flanigan will be there for every show and a strong supporting cast will back him up. If you loved this show before you will love it again. It is bigger and better than ever.
“Stargate Atlantis” premieres on the Sci Fi Channel, Friday, July 11 at 10PM. |
