This has been the best season of “American Idol” and this has also been the worst. The voices of Allison, Danny, Kris and Adam are exceptional, so why haven’t we had any “ahhhh” moments? There have been some close calls but nothing that was a signature event.
In the past we got Fantasia singing “Summertime,” Melinda Doolittle singing “My Funny Valentine,” the top eight on the last season singing “Shout To the Lord!”, and those are only the immediate ones that come to mind. This year there is nothing that has even come close to those special moments.
As I write this Danny, Kris and Adam are still standing. The easy money seems to be on Adam to take the crown. In this respect “Entertainment Weekly” put him on the cover solo and magically proclaimed him the best thing that ever happened to “AI.”
I think this is going to cause a huge backlash against Adam as the Kris/Danny fans react to the article and get up in arms. Then whichever of these two is eliminated this week will throw his votes to the other non-Adam contestant. Or maybe the backlash will be so great that Adam will be eliminated and Kris and Danny will duke it out.
This down to the wire contest between the dark and dangerous Adam and the clean cut and smiling Kris/Danny has all the makings of a thrillah in Manilla. You can bet there is going to be a huge crowd waiting for the outcome.
So get ready for the winner to be declared, and before that happens make sure you vote for your favorite. If you don’t vote then you can’t complain.
