“Dancing With the Stars” (ABC)
“Dancing With the Stars” has proven to be almost as popular as “American Idol.” It has revitalized careers, created new stars, and even made Jerry Springer lovable. Now it is time for Season 9 of the show and the cast has been announced
First off there will be no Tori Spelling, Latoya Jackson or Mrs. Howard Stern. They were all rumored to be in the cast but they are not on the list. Last time it was rumored. Donny Osmond would make the cut but he didn’t. He did this time. He’ll have a tough time topping Marie’s appearance. Does he feel faint?
Also on the list is Ashley Hamilton. He is George and Alana’s son and that is his claim to fame. He will have a tough time following in his daddy’s footsteps. George has charm by the gallons and a sun burned visage that is very distinguished. Ashley, well he has a lot of tattoos.
Another offspring in the offing is Kelly Osborne. She can do mom and dad proud on this show. Let’s just hope she doesn’t have a relapse into rehab frothe stress of it all. And she better remember this is a family show and censor her language. Those Osbornes have a close relationship with profanity.
Macy Grey will be tappng her foot as will Mya. Both of these women have the ability to move so it will be interesting to see if they can dance. I think Mya might be the surprise of the season if she can get enough votes to stay around a while.
Aaron Carter will be shooting for the teen vote. His career needs a boost so I bet he will be working his little self to death. At the other end of the spectrum is Tom Delay, the former House Majority Leader. I bet he can tap dance around anything.
Maybe using witchcraft will be Melissa Joan Hart. She can cast a spell on the judges. Debi Mazar is a unique actress and once was a good friend of Madonna’s. Maybe that lady can give her some tips about how to stay in shape. This year’s chef contestant is Mark Dacascos. Rocco DiSpirito didn’t make much of an impression but maybe Mark will go further.
Athletes in the cast include football player Michael Irvin, swimmer Natalie Coughlin, boxer Chuck Liddell and snow boarder Louie Vito. They will be up against super model Kathy Ireland and up and coming model Joanna Krupa.
It is a packed house to be sure, and right now any one of them could be the winner. Odds are that Donny will go the distance and at least be in the top three. Mya danced up a storm in the movie “Chicago” so we know she has talent. And my girl Macy Grey should be able to make an impression. Remember too that a lot will depend on who they get as a partner. Cheryl, Derek and Mark always want too win. Julianne is sitting this year out.
We will soon see them in action as the new season kicks off on Monday, September 21 at 8PM. |
