“In Plain Sight” (The USA Network)
Season two of “In Plain Sight” kicks off this month on the USA Network. Mary McCormack stars in this series and she is the absolutely essential reason to watch. She, like Holly Hunter in “Saving Grace,” dominates this show and makes it must see TV.
McCormack plays US Marshall Mary Shannon. She lives and works in Albuquerque, NM where her specialty is the Witness Protection Program. As the season opens Mary has returned to her job after almost being killed. She is suffering a form of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The effect of this might make it impossible for here to come back to full duty.
She is also still under stress from living with her sister (Nicole Hiltz) and her mother (the amazingly talented Lesley Ann Warren). Her mother is an alcoholic and her sister is an immature, overgrown brat.
The combination of Mary’s cases mixed with her family life makes for the entertainment and enjoyment of the series. Plus McCormack has to be one of the best actresses in Hollywood. Try to watch anyone else when she is on screen.
There is also a love interest for Mary and he is played by Christian de la Fuente. Their relationship threatens to really heat up this year. Plus Holly Maples has joined the cast as a new Office Manager at the US Marshall’s office. She and Mary do not see eye to eye.
Complex characters, intriguing plots, and acting that is super across the board – these are the elements that make “In Plain Sight” great. And it is why you and I should be very excited it is back for season two.
“In Plain Sight” premieres Sunday, April 19 at 10PM on the USA Network. |
