“Lock ‘n Load” (SHOWTIME)

Americans have long been obsessed by the desire to own guns. The right to firepower is one of our most protected freedoms. In the new SHOWTIME series “Lock ‘n Load” the cameras take us inside a gun shop and firing range in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There we are met by a young man named Josh who mans the counter. He introduces us to a variety of people seeking the perfect weapon.

There are hidden cameras in the store so the people seeking guns are very open in what they want and need. Some people come out with their children. Now that is a chilling sight! Others bring their parents or grandparents. All have a specific reason as to why they want a gun.

Josh is the friendly type of guy who draws their stories out of them. As a reality host he is good. He also knows weapons and can make logical recommendations to his clientele. Plus he encourages his customers to perfect their stance and attitude when wielding a weapon.

Downstairs in the store is the firing range. People can buy their weapons, get some ammo and head on downstairs to practice their skills. This is where they get serious and give it their all as they aim at the targets.

Whether this show will prove to be popular is unknown. It is fun to watch the variety of people who come into the store but it is also disconcerting to see so many people loading up on guns. Unless the creators of the show come up with some other angles this one “watch the customer” feature is going to get old.

You can judge for yourself by watching “Lock ‘n Load” every Wednesday night at 8PM on SHOWTIME.
