“Prison Break” (Fox)
“Prison Break” has returned to the TV schedule for its last few episodes. Instead of being shown its usual Monday night slot it is now being seen on Fridays at 8 on Fox, as the lead in for “Dollhouse.” It is still the fast-paced, action adventure it has always been but knowing that we only have a few more episodes to enjoy makes it much more compelling.
Michael and Lincoln are still trying to get free of the “Company” but they now have different agendas. Lincoln (Dominic Purcell), T-Bag (Robert Knepper), Alex Mahone (William Fichtner), and Don Self (Michael Rapaport) are working to find “Scylla,” a program the Company desperately needs. Linc was promised that if he found this program and got it for the Company then he and his family would finally be free (yeah, sure!!!).
Michael (Wentworth Miller) has had brain surgery and is now on the loose with girlfriend Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies). They are headed to Miami to find Linc and Michael’s mother Christina (Kathleen Quinlan) who works for the Company. Christina may be all mother love or she may be the meanest mother of them all.
Once again this season the acting is what lifts this show above the others of its type. Miller, Purcell, Tancredi, Knepper, Rapaport and especially Fichtner are at the top of their game. Fichtner has grown into his role from aggressive Agent to strong Michael; and Linc supporter. Along the way he has learned that the Company killed his son and that sadness drives him.
The addition of Quinlan to the cast has certainly upped the ante of entertainment. This lady is quite the actress and adds a smoky, conspiratorial demeanor to the already mysterious aspects of her character. Quinlan usually plays one of the good guys but in this series her character is up for grabs.
These last few episodes lead up to a two hour conclusion that is supposed to tie up most of the loose ends. There is even supposed to be a five year time jump to illustrate what happens to these characters in the future. In addition there is a two hour “Prison Break” stand alone movie that could be aired if Fox wanted to do it. Otherwise it will go directly to DVD.
For those who have followed “Prison Break” from the start it is sad to have it all ending, but at least it is going out in style and with all episodes shown. The journey of Linc and Michael has been an arduous one but now they are in the home stretch. I wonder if both of them will make it to the finish or if there will be some sacrificial act that will seal one of their fate.
Tune in to “Prison Break,” Friday nights at 8 on Fox. All answers will be revealed – we hope! |
