“Sherri” (Lifetime)
Lifetime has picked a winner in the new half hour comedy series “Sherri.” This fast paced show is blessed to have Sherri Shepherd headlining, but then the show is based loosely on Sherri Shepherd’s own life.
Shepherd plays a woman named Sherri who works in a legal office. She also moonlights as an actress. Her life is in pieces when the show starts because she has caught her husband Kevin (Malcolm Jamal-Warner) cheating with a fast food waitress (Kate Reinders). Sherri and Kevin have been married for ten years and have a son named Bo (Brandon Kahlil).
Sherri’s co-workers, Celia (Tammy Townsend) and Angie (Elizabeth Regen) tell her she should get back into the swing of life now that she and Kevin are over. Even her father (James Avery) tells her she has to get back in the dating scene. Sherri is hesitant but eventually agrees.
Shepherd is the star of the show and the bright spot. She can make a funny line come alive in a flash, and when she gives it the Shepherd spin it makes the audience roar. She also has the good fortune of being backed up by a super supporting cast. This is the kind of show and cast that indicates everything is going to get better and better each and every week.
Shepherd has made a name for herself as one of the co-hosts on “The View.” Now she is about to emerge as a bright sitcom star whose future is unlimited. You love her on “The View” as herself and you will love her even more as her alter ego in “Sherri.”
Tune in to this new show and also tell your friends about it. “Sherri” has a sneak peek on Lifetime, October 5 at 7PM. Its regular air time will be Tuesdays at 10PM. |
