On Monday, January 26 at 9PM “The Closer” returns and kicks off five all new episodes. Kyra Sedgwick and company once again play cops and robbers (and other bad guys) to our great enjoyment. We all love our LAPD Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson (Sedgwick) and are happy to have her back where she belongs.

In this new series of episodes we will get to learn of any wedding progress between Brenda and her fiancé Fritz (Jon Tenney), and we will learn the fate of Sgt Sanchez (Raymond Cruz). Sanchez was seriously wounded in the last episode of the series.

In the first of the new episodes we also get a chance to welcome back Brenda’s parents (Frances Sternhagen and Barry Corbin). Later in the season we will meet Brenda’s sister, played by Amy Sedaris. So you can see there is a lot in store for viewers as far as resolutions and guest stars.

And if that isn’t enough we get the rest of the old gang back and this includes GW Bailey, Tony Denison, Corey Reynolds, Gina Ravera, J K Simmons, Michael Paul Chan, Robert Gossett and Phillip P Keene. Each and every one of these actors plays an essential role on the show.

So settle down and tune in to “The Closer” on Monday night, January 26 at 9PM.

Riding on the coattails of the popularity of this show will be a new series titled “Trust Me.” This is a series about an ad agency and two men who live and die by their jobs. Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh co-star as Mason and Conner. Mason is the more agreeable of the two. Conner acts as if he is God’s gift to the advertising world.

Also on board is Monica Potter as Sarah Krajicek-Hunter. She is a new hire and is abrasive in the worst possible ways. Still if there is anyone who will draw me to the show it is she. They can dowdy her up all they want; she is still a fascinating actress to watch.

McCormack has that same sense of comedic timing he utilized for years on “Will and Grace.” He is funny and charming all at once, and when he gets in a pickle you pull for him to get out with his job and his self confidence intact. He also has a great wife on the show played by Sarah Clarke. She is an able partner for Mason and one that will be more involved in his job because he needs her to be.

The one reason I might avoid the show is Tom Cavanagh’s portrayal of Conner. Cavanagh is an actor whose charm has eluded me. I was never a fan of “Ed” and he has annoyed me in everything else in which he has appeared. Potter and McCormack are going to have to work extra hard to keep me from tuning out.

For the time being I will be watching “Trust Me” but trust me if that Tom Cavanagh gets too annoying I am out of here!

“Trust Me” premieres behind “The Closer“ at 10Pm, Monday, January 26 on TNT.
