“Army Wives” (Lifetime)

“Army Wives” returns on April 11 for the kick-off of its fourth season. This popular “Lifetime” series stars Kim Delaney, Catherine Bell, Brigid Brannagh and Sally Pressman as the Army wives who share a strong friendship. Sterling K. Brown is the Army husband who is also in their group. The show focuses on their trials and tribulations and is quite enjoyable to watch.

Delaney has always been a strong actress and her TV successes have been deserved. Who could forget her as Bobby’s wife in “NYPD Blue”? In this series she plays Claudia Joy Holden, wife of Base Commander Brigadier General Michael Holden (Brian McNamarra). In the past seasons the Holdens lost a child to a bomb explosion, Claudia Joy found out she is diabetic, and their teenaged daughter tried to elope.

Denise Sherwood (Bell) had an affair but managed to save her marriage to Col Frank Sherwood (Terry Serpico). Their son Jeremy (Richard Bryant) has returned from a tour in Iraq but is suffering from depression. In the final episode of last season Frank and Denise were returning home from an outing and heard a gunshot in their house.

Roxy (Pressman) and her husband Trevor (Drew Fuller) have discovered they are pregnant while Pamela (Brannagh) and her husband Chase (Jeremy Davidson) are having marital problems. This has led to a separation of sorts. Roland (Brown) is missing his wife Joan (Wendy Davis) who is overseas on a tour of duty. At the start of this season he finds out she has been severely wounded.

That is a lot of trauma in a one hour show but that is what makes “Army Wives” so much fun to watch. There is something dramatic happening in each and every episode and because you care for the characters you care about what is happening.

For one of the best dramatic shows on TV tune into the fourth season of “Army Wives.” It premieres on Sunday, April 11 at 10PM on the “Lifetime” channel.
