“Burn Notice” (The USA Network)

Now here’s something to brighten up the winter months. New episodes of “Burn Notice” start airing this week. Yes Jeffrey Donovan and company are back having adventures in Miami. The fun is just as great as ever and the adventures just as daring. There is nothing new per se here but the cast makes it all worth your viewing time.

Donovan plays Michael Westen, a former CIA agent who has been “burned.” That means he is on the outs with the agency. Now he is trying to clear his name, but in the meantime he takes jobs to help people who need his special skills. He is assisted in these tasks by his ex-girlfriend Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) and his buddy Sam (Bruce Campbell). Now and then he even gets his mother Madeline (Sharon Gless) to help out.

In the first episode of the new season he once again needs his mother’s help. She has to befriend a woman who works in the records department of the county. The great thing about this is the “friend” is played by Tyne Daly. The role is a nothing one but Daly makes it sparkle. Plus how great is it to have Cagney and Lacy together again! Here’s hoping Daly makes a repeat appearance in episodes to come.

To add some additional sparks to the mix, the heat between Michael and Fiona is increasing. The audience knows they are right for each other but it is a matter of convincing the two of them that they are. Still the chemistry is perfect between these two actors and the characters smolder when in each other’s presence.

“Burn Notice” is one of the USA Network’s most popular shows and it has lost nothing during its hiatus. The characters are still great as are the actors. It should be another fun filled, action packed season.

“Burn Notice” premieres on the USA Network, Thursday, January 21 at 10PM. Don’t miss a single new episode.
