“Double Wedding” (Lifetime Movie Network)

Tia and Tamera Mowry bring their abundant charms to the original movie “Double Wedding” which airs this month on the Lifetime Movie Network. These identical twins are long on beauty and talent, and make this simple and utterly predictable movie a sweeping success. Charm goes a long way and this movie has charm up to the rafters.

Deanna (Tia Mowry) and Danielle (Tamera Mowry) Warren are as close as two sisters can be, Deanna has a career as a lawyer on the road to partner at her firm while Danielle is an extraordinarily gifted pastry and cake maker. She dreams of having her own shoppe one day.

The problem is neither girl has a boyfriend. Their grandparents are getting ready to renew their vows in a lavish church ceremony and neither of them has anyone to invite. Deanna’s problems are solved to some extent when her assistant Jasper (Chad Connell) signs her up for a dating service.

Deanna resists at first but soon gives up and accepts a date with the first guy on the list. He is a loser but she reluctantly tries again and this time meets Chase (O T Fagbenle). He is an architect and genuinely nice guy, and Danielle has a good time on their date. He is also impressed.

Soon thereafter Chase runs into Danielle at a restaurant downtown. He thinks she is Deanna because she responds when he calls her “D” which is a nickname for both girls. Danielle thinks he is just a cool guy coming on to her. She is attracted to him and before you know it Chase is dating both women but thinking he is only dating one. He has no idea there are twins in the picture.

All of these occurrences are totally predictable but the cast delivers it all with such charm and likeability that the audience doesn’t care. Tia and Tamera Mowry have grown into beautiful young women who are also completely at ease on screen. They have wonderful personalities that make an audience gravitate towards them.

Fortunately they have also surrounded themselves with other likable actors in this movie. Fagbenle has charm galore and an easy smile and style. He would be the perfect answer to any girl’s dreams. Also showing an additional amount of charm is Connell. You keep waiting for Deanna to notice him and stop considering him just an office pal.

If you want to watch a film that is pleasingly entertaining then this is the one to pick. The Mowry girls produced and star in this cheesy, but good cheesy, movie. It is for the romantics among us – and that is a large audience.

“Double Wedding” premieres on the Lifetime Movie Network, June 20 at 8PM.
