“Ghost Hunters Academy” (Syfy Channel)
The ghost busting business is getting to be such a big field that new recruits are constantly needed. Therefore the “Syfy Channel” came up with a new show to feed talented people into its other shows such as “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost Hunters International.” The new show is called “Ghost Hunters Academy” and it takes in eight new applicants and puts them through the tests to see who should be added to the “Ghost Hunter” teams.
This is the second year for “Ghost Hunters Academy” and once again the search for the perfect new team member is led by Steve Gonslaves and David Tango, two experienced “Ghost Hunters” people. Jason Hawes is the ultra guru on these shows and he comes in on “Ghost Hunters Academy” to decide who gets kicked out as an applicant each week.
The show does operate on a “Survivor”-like basis. There are eight candidates at the start of the show. Each has shown an interest and possibly a background in the study of paranormal activity. Under the direction of Dave and Steve they are taken to places where paranormal activity has been reported. They go through the building at night and are observed.
The next day after studying all the videos and sounds of what they saw and/or heard one person is kicked out of the group. Over the course of the season it is expected the viewers will develop a liking for certain members and will be interested in seeing if they are “the one” selected for the “Ghost Hunters” team.
A lot of people seem to enjoy these “paranormal” shows on the Syfy Channel. Others, like me, find them to be silly and self serving. I always feel as if I am watching a live version of “Scooby-Doo.” Nothing really startling is ever found and the show consists of finding things that go bump in the night.
However if you are a fan of these types of shows then you are going to enjoy “Ghost Hunters Academy.” For one thing the people involved take this all very seriously. They listen carefully, observe with anticipation, and analyze every whisper and shadow. They will draw you into their world if you are willing to go.
So tune in Wednesday, June 2 at 9PM to the Syfy Channel for the premiere of “Ghost Hunters Academy.” It is time to go paranormal exploring again. |
