“Neighbors From Hell” (TBS)
TBS has a new animated series airing this summer. It is titled “Neighbors From Hell” and that is truth in advertising up front. For in this show the new couple on the block has been sent up from Hell on a secret mission, It is a comedy show along the lines of “Family Guy” or “South Park” and has the requisite profanity, sexual innuendoes and rude humor.
The family from Hell that becomes the ”neighbors from hell” include Balthozor Hellman (voiced by Will Sasso), his wife Tina (Molly Shannon), daughter Mandy (Tracey Fairaway), son Josh (David Soren), Uncle Vlaartark (Kyle McCulloch) and pet dog Pazuzu (Patton Oswalt). They are quite an odd assortment of characters but they try to act normal while on Earth. Sometimes they slip into demon mode but quickly try to get back to “earth normal.”
The humor on the show is spotty with a few real laughs thrown in here and there. The animation is minimal but that is in keeping with the feel of the show. The voice talent is very good with Patton, Sasso and Shannon leading the way. They know how to bring characters to life with their voices.
This is definitely not a show aimed at children. The language is spotted with profanity and the jokes get a little on the crude side. That is why it has a late night time spot. The kids should be in bed asleep by the time it airs. For adults it is a matter of taste. Some people find these cartoons for adults enjoyable and entertaining. To each his/her own.
If you wish to tune in to this show it airs on TBS each Monday evening at 10. |
