“Season Finales” (USA TV)

The USA Network schedules its series at various times during the year. As one season of a show ends another season of a show begins. Here in March the time has come for the season finales of “Burn Notice” and “White Collar.”

“Burn Notice” plays its final episode of the season on March 4 at 10PM. The lure of this show is the star turn by Jeffrey Donovan as “burned” agent Michael Westen. Donovan gives this role a special quality that brings viewers back week after week. The creators of the show have also set up a quasi romance with demolition expert Fiona Glenanne (Gabrielle Anwar) that keeps viewers guessing as to “will they or won’t they.”

The brightest new spark on the show is Westen’s mother Madeline (Sharon Gless). She has become more and more involved in her son’s activities and has also befriended Fi as well as Michael’s other partner Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell).

The season finale involves the entire gang and leaves you wondering just what is going to happen next. It is made even more enjoyable by the guest appearance of John Mahoney as “Management.” He figures prominently in the episode as does Garret Dillahunt who plays a mysterious man named Simon.

It will be a few months before we get new episodes of “Burn Notice” so we better enjoy those we can. So make sure you tune in Thursday, March 4 at 10PM on the USA Network for the season finale of “Burn Notice.”

On March 9 we get the season finale of “White Collar” and it is one of its best episodes ever. Matt Bomer has become a star playing Neal Caffrey, an art thief who is on probation and working with the FBI. His partner of sorts is Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) and the buddy aspect of the series lives and dies in their performances.

One of the brightest spots in this series is Peter’s wife Elizabeth who is winningly played by Tiffani Thiessen. Thiessen is a beautiful woman and a solid actress. She makes her scenes with both Peter and Neal better than they otherwise would be.

For added pleasure Diahann Carrol appears from time to time as Neal’s landlady of sorts named June. Carroll looks great and has such presence that she adds to any scene in which she appears. Also good is Willie Garson as Neal’s con artist buddy Mozzie.

The season finale for this show is another winner. It includes all the regulars of the cast plus the return of Marsha Thomason as Special Agent Diana Lansing. It is good to have her back even if it is only for one episode.

“White Collar” is one of the USA Network’s most popular shows so don’t miss the final episode of the season on Tuesday, March 9 at 10PM on the USA Network.
