"Haunting Sarah" (Lifetime)
Since it is getting close to Halloween, what better time is there to present a creepy little thriller titled "Haunting Sarah"? Kim Raver, who was so good in last year's "24," stars as identical twins in this Lifetime original movie that deals with death and possession.
In this movie Erica and Heather (both played by Raver) are identical twins. They are both in their mid thirties and are married, each with a child. Erica has a child named Sarah (Niamh Wilson) and Heather has a son named David (Ryland Thiessen).
At the start of the movie David is killed in an accident. Sarah, who has been very close to her cousin, doesn't seem upset by his death. In fact she says she knew about it before her mother told her. David himself came to her and told her.
Sarah continues to talk about David as if he were with her. Erica's housekeeper Rosie (Alison Sealy-Smith) thinks he is haunting Sarah and provides the child with amulets to ward off evil spirits.
Eventually David ends up challenging Erica for Sarah's life. He is between worlds and wants to come back to the land of the living. Heather appears to be his ally and Erica is forced to take drastic measures in order to try and save her daughter.
Raver is excellent in the dual roles. She manages to make Erica and Heather two distinct personalities, and easily identifiable. Wilson is very good as the possessed Sarah and Sealy-Smith has some good moments as she fights off David's spirit.
This is the kind of movie that has attracted people since the days of "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Other." It has a chilly, fun affect to it and viewers will have a great time being subsequently frightened and entertained by the goings on.
This is not a classic fright film but it is one with enough ominous happenings to amuse viewers who tune in. "The Haunting of Sarah" will add a nip to the fall air and keep you looking over your shoulders for a few hours.
"The Haunting of Sarah" premieres on Lifetime on Monday, October 3 at 9PM. |
