"My Life Is A Sitcom" & "Switched Up" (ABC Family Channel)

Two shows premiere on the ABC Family Channel this week, and guess what? They are both enjoyable. In this year of really poor shows, and especially awful reality shows, these two programs are standouts. They are titled "Switched Up!" and "My Life Is A Sitcom."

The premise of "Switched Up!" is that two people trade lives for a few days. In the first episode actor/writer Scott Weinger trades lives with Lindsey, a girl from Hawaii. She travels to LA to start his life and he goes to Hawaii to live hers. Boy, is he surprised when he learns one of her jobs is swimming with sharks.

In the second episode a Dallas Cheerleader and a girl who lives on a ranch in Laramie, Wyoming trade places. This is really culture shock as the Dallas cheerleader is a real girly girl and the rancher is a girl who can rope cattle and pitch hay. It is loads of fun seeing these two worlds collide.

In "My Life Is A Sitcom" an ordinary guy named Joe is selected to have his life filmed as a sitcom. The problem is that he has been selected but his family hasn't. They sort of flunked the screen test. So in the first episode of the show Joe is sent out with the Producer and Script Writer to find an average man to portray his father.

Joe is really a nice guy and he is what makes the show work. He actually seems to really be who he is in life on camera. He is an "ordinary Joe." It will be interesting to see who all he selects to be "his family" in the coming weeks.

"Switched Up!" and "My Life Is A Sitcom" are both different enough to be interesting, and well developed enough to be entertaining. The ABC Family Channel has come up with two winners and that is amazing.

Both shows premiere on Sunday, March 7. "Switched Up!" airs at 7PM and "My Life Is A Sitcom" follows at 7:30.
