"Stargate SG-1" (The SciFi Channel)
"Stargate SG-1" kicks off its eighth season with another action packed adventure. This extremely popular science fiction series has taken the place of "Star Trek" with some fans and has built a solid core audience for each and every episode.
One of the main reasons for the popularity of the series has to rest with Richard Dean Anderson's performance as Colonel Jack O'Neill. Anderson is as integral to this show as William Shatner was to the original "Star Trek." His is a loose, likeable performance that draws attention and keeps it there.
In the premiere episode for this eighth season O'Neill is in peril and must be rescued. Major Samantha Carter (Amanda Topping) and Teal'c (Christopher Judge) are charged with going into space and bringing him back.
Meanwhile back at the Stargate a new Commander has been assigned and this is Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson). She has her hands full dealing with a variety of alien leaders who want to negotiate a peace treaty with the forces on Earth.
The music, the special effects, the acting and the storylines combine to make "Stargate SG-1" a TV show that totally entertains. Once you watch one episode you will be hooked, and will find yourself back for each and every adventure.
"Stargate SG-1" premieres Friday July 9 at 9PM on the SciFi Channel and will be seen regularly each Friday night at this time. |
