"Strong Medicine" (Lifetime Television)
One of the Lifetime Channel's most popular dramas is the series "Strong Medicine." This medical drama started out co-starring Rosa Blasi and Janine Turner. Turner left the show a couple of years ago and a new character was introduced who was played by Patricia Richardson. The ratings stayed high and now the show is presenting its one hundredth episode.
The guest stars for this episode are Fran Drescher, Camryn Manheim and Sara Gilbert. Drescher plays a woman with terminal uterine cancer while Manheim and Gilbert portray two women who are locked in a battle over a four year old girl. Gilbert plays the drug adducted mother who abandoned her, and Manheim plays the woman who adopted her.
The tensions run tight on these two storylines and give all of the actors a chance to show their talents in the best light. Drescher is especially outstanding in a role that has relevance to her own life. She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer.
Any show that hits the 100th milestone has something extra going for it, and "Strong Medicine's" x factor is its relevance to women's issues today. The plots of this show are always topical and in some instances controversial.
Blasi and Richardson are a good blend on the show and they receive strong support from regulars Jenifer Lewis, Phillip Casnoff, Tamera Mowery and Josh Coxx. All together they form a core group of players who make every story interesting and informative.
"Strong Medicine" airs each Sunday night at 9PM. The 100th episode airs on October 3 at this time. Make sure you watch. |
