"Strong Medicine" (Lifetime)

The hospital drama "Strong Medicine" will begin its sixth season on June 12. Rosa Blasi returns as Dr. Luisa Delgado but this season she gets a new partner at the Women's Health Division at Rittenhouse Hospital, and for the first time it is a man. Yes Rick Schroeder has joined the cast and he is playing Dr. Dylan West, a doctor Lu knew when she was an intern - and didn't like. The chemistry between these two characters looks like a good dynamic and should insure "Strong Medicine" many more seasons of success.

Jenifer Lewis is back again as Lana, the receptionist of the Women's Health Clinic and face it this show just wouldn't be the same without Lewis as Lana. Josh Coxx is also back as Peter Riggs the nurse/midwife and Tamera Mowry is once again seen as Kayla Thornton, an intern.

The first episode focuses on Dr. West's arrival at Rittenhouse as well as the issue of whether or not Lu will say yes to Jonas Rey (Nestor Carbonell) who has proposed. Whether or not she does agree to marry Rey will determine if Carbonell is a regular this year.

The acting is as good as ever in this series that is as enjoyable and engrossing as "Grey's Anatomy." All of the regular actors know their characters backwards and forward, and now that Schroeder has joined the cast things should get even better. He is the rare child actor who has found a solid career as an adult. And for all of us who have missed him since he left "NYPD Blue" the fact he is returning to series television is good news indeed.

So now that "Desperate Housewives" is all repeats mark Sunday nights at 9 as "Strong Medicine" time. You will find it is most addictive viewing.

"Strong Medicine" premieres on the Lifetime Channel on June 12.
