"Ashton Again"
Just when you were trying to decide whether or not to watch Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac in the new to video release "Guess Who?", along comes another Ashton Kutcher video to tempt you. This one is titled "A Lot Like Love" and co-stars Amanda Peet.
In this film they play two people who keep running into each other through the years. They are always friends and sometimes lovers who never seem to have the right timing to get together permanently. But who knows, one day the time may be right and the relationship they have might just be love.
The movie is an up and down sort that never quite satisfies. For some reason Kutcher and Peet don't play off each other very well. They are both fairly good actors but you can't act chemistry. It is either there or its not and in their case it is not.
So take your time deciding whether to watch this romantic comedy or not. It won't be a great loss if you don't.
Another not so great loss would be "Beauty Shop," especially if you have seen the movie "Barber Shop." This one has the same plot but only from a female point of view. Just think Queen Latifah as Ice Cube.
Queen Latifah is the head of a beauty shop where she employs a white girl (Alicia Silverstone) who likes to talk and act black, much as Troy Garity did in the other movie. Alfre Woodard plays the older and more seasoned stylist, much as Cedric the Entertainer did in the other film. And the comparisons go on and on.
The best thing about "Beauty Shop" is the sassiness of Latifah and the chemistry she has with Djimon Honsou who plays her boyfriend. Unlike Kutcher and Peet, they do have it. But it is not enough to make the movie anything special.
Something that is worth watching is "Nip/Tuck: The Complete Second Season." This show that runs on the F/X Channel has generated more buzz than most shows on the major networks. Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon star as two plastic surgeons who have explosive lives.
These two men are fascinating as are there patients, who live for the right nip and tuck. Cosmetic surgery is a big factor in the world today and this show shows why. It is all about the look and that promises to be the setting for a lot of drama.
A new season of this show will be starting soon so what better time to get caught up on season two's action. It is all available on DVD, plus some extra unaired scenes. So go out and get this full set of shows today.
Not quite as entertaining but still a must see for their audience is "Boy Meets World: Season Three." Ben Savage, Danielle Fisher and Rider Strong are on view as the high school students who have their share of ups and downs.
There are twenty-two episodes in this season and they are all available for view on this DVD. Life at John Adams High School has never been so much fun, so jump in and watch the whole year at one sitting. Okay, maybe two or three sittings!
Finally there is "Life As We Know It" on DVD. This series never did get the recognition it deserved, and it was cancelled before the even planned end episode ever aired. Now you get to see the whole series including that episode, plus another one that never aired.
D B Sweeney, Kelly Osbourne, Sean Farris and Jon Foster are some of the stars in this coming of age series. It is an enjoyable series when you take the time to watch more than one episode, which is what a lot of people did. |
