"Get Hitch-ed"
Will Smith becomes a full-fledged romantic leading man in "Hitch." In this movie he plays a man who can make romance happen. That is his line of work and his stock in trade. But he meets a big challenge when he is employed by a hopeless nerd (Kevin James) who is head over heels in love with a beautiful heiress (Amber Valetta).
Hitch also has some romantic complications of his own as he tries to woo an aloof writer for a magazine (Eva Mendes). But seeing it all work out is the beauty and charm of this film. All of the actors are first rate with James being a standout in a very professional cast.
There are of course extras galore on the DVD and that just enhances the fun. So don't wait around get "Hitch"-ed tonight.
If you liked "Charlie's Angels" but wish it had gotten a little more down and dirtier then you are going to love "D.E.B.S." This film is all about beauties who fight the espionage battles of the world and give their all to save the country and maybe the world.
Jordana Brewster is the villain of the piece and she gives the role everything she's got and more. The other stars include Sara Foster, Jill Ritchie, Devon Aoki and Meagan Good. These are some of Hollywood's brightest up and coming stars and they look great and carry off their crime fighter roles.
The movie is kinky, quirky, romantic with a touch of lesbianism, and totally fascinating. This is not your father's "Charlie's Angels" but rather is a modern day movie with all the current twists and turns. Open your mind and open your eyes and enjoy "D.E.B.S."
Another movie requiring an open mind is John Waters' "A Dirty Shame." This latest look at life in Baltimore stars Tracey Ullman, Selma Blair, Johnny Knoxville and Chris Isaak. They star in this controversial movie that is being released in R rated and NC-13 rated versions. Both are pretty adult.
The film is all about a woman (Ullman) who accidentally unleashes all of her sexual cravings. This brings her into conflict with the more conservative elements in her town. With a go-go dancer for a daughter (Blair) and a sexual healer for a friend (Knoxville) the lines are drawn. Its a Waters film so who do you think wins?
Be sure and get the DVD that has commentary by Waters. It's worth the price of the disc.
If you have any curiosity about the world of professional poker then you will want to get the new DVD "Tilt." This film tells you everything you ever wanted to know about that world and more.
The movie stars Michael Madsen as Don "The Matador" Everest. He is one of the best in the world of Poker playing and there are many who would like to bring him down. Kristin Lehman is the woman who has her eyes on him.
This movie comes in a three-disc DVD set and has extras by the tons including deleted scenes, an alternate ending, outtakes and commentaries. You name it, this movie DVD has it.
So hone up on your poker skills and settle back to watch a solidly entertaining movie. Get a copy of "Tilt"!
Kids are going to be the first in line to get the new DVD "Tarzan II." This film is a prequel of sorts to the animated "Tarzan" movie of a few years back. This time we get to see Tarzan as a kid in the jungle having an adventure with his good friends Terk the ape and Tantor the elephant.
Added delights are the two new songs from Phil Collins, plus the vocal talents of Glen Close, Lance Henricksen and George Carlin. Throw in an engrossing storyline and the kids have a near perfect afternoon pastime which adults can enjoy too.
This second "Tarzan" movie is actually more kid friendly for the younger kids than the original animated film was. So get a copy of your own ASAP.
Saving the best for last, you really should watch "Rory O'Shea Was Here," a funny but inspiring story of two men with disabilities and how they manage to enjoy life. This movie really does entertain at the same time it is touching your heart.
James McAvoy and Steven Robertson play the two men and Romola Garai plays the woman who treats them as individuals and not statistics. They bring the fact-based story to life and win us all over with their charm and charisma.
Don't miss "Rory O'Shea Was Here." It is a very unique movie that should be seen. |
