"Get Transported, One More Time"
Jason Statham returns as Frank Martin in "Transporter 2." This exciting movie is a sequel to "Transporter" which smashed into screens and made us all sit up and take notice. This movie, like the original, is full of great car chases and other heroic actions.
In the film Frank is acting as a chauffeur for a young boy. When he is kidnapped Frank takes it personally and vows to get him back. And you know what, I believe him. When Frank says he'll do something, he does it.
Statham is solid in the role of Frank. Two women add solid support. Amber Valletta who plays the young boy's mother, and Kate Nauta who plays one of the thugs who arranges the kidnapping. But even with these glamorous women in view, it is Statham's show all the way.
The movie is not quite as good as the original but there is still excitement to spare. You can let yourself get "transported" away from your cares by watching "The Transporter 2." And with the DVD you get plenty of extras to add to your fun.
Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy star in the very exciting and thrilling "Red Eye." Both actors excel in their roles. He is a hired killer and she is the target he is pursuing. He manages to trap her on a plane from Dallas to Miami and if you were claustrophobic about airplane flights, well this movie will make you even more so.
The suspense in this movie is intense and you will be sitting on the edge of your sofa as the movie moves from one exciting situation to the next. McAdams is fast becoming one of my favorite actresses and Murphy is coldly chilling as the killer.
This is just a good old popcorn type movie that you can watch at home and have a great time. I watched it with my extended family and everybody had a great time. So get this one ASAP.
Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz star in "The Constant Gardener," which is based on a novel by John Le Carre'. The film concerns a career diplomat named Justin Quayle (Fiennes) who is posted to Africa. While there his activist wife gets involved in activities that lead to her murder. This happens in the first few minutes of the film so I am not ruining the DVD for you. The rest of the movie concerns Quayle's efforts to find who killed his wife and why.
This is a slow moving film but when you finally get onto it you will be hooked. It is talky and ponderous at points but the overall mystery of the plot and the majestic acting skills of all involved make this a movie not to be missed.
"The Constant Gardener" has been winning some awards so before the Academy Awards are announced, make sure you see this movie.
Robin Williams has a new movie coming to theaters in a few weeks titled "RV." It is a comedy and hopefully it will bring him back to form. Two of his best roles were in the movies "Good Morning Vietnam" and "Dead Poets Society." They are now out on special DVD formats with a lot of extras included.
"Good Morning Vietnam" is a great comedy while "Dead Poets Society" is more of a melodrama. They both helped Williams build his career. So don't miss this opportunity to see both of them again, and also view some behind the scenes special footage, and get some great commentaries.
The kids can have a great time this week with some Disney "Sing Along" DVD's. Get your kids "You Can Fly" which features songs from "Peter Pan." Or you can pick up "The Bare Necessities" which features songs from "The Jungle Book." One of my favorites is "Supercalifragilisticexpialidociouos" which features songs from "Mary Poppins." A final offering is "Pongo and Perdita" which features songs from "101 Dalmatians."
All of these DVD's are sure to provide your little ones with hours of great fun. So get them today! |
