"Mark Wahlberg's Star Is Rising"
Mark Wahlberg gets better and better with each and every role he takes, and he is pretty dadgum good in "Four Brothers" which is now out on DVD. In this film Wahlberg plays the oldest of four males adopted by a woman (Fionnula Flanagan). They are of different ages and different races
When this woman is killed in a robbery the four "brothers, played by Wahlberg, Andre Benjamin, Tyrese Gibson and Garrett Hedlund, come home to find her killer. This makes up the basic plot of this dramatic and enjoyable film.
The acting in this movie is terrific and the direction by John Singleton is excellent. This is the perfect movie for a DVD as it is action packed and dramatically challenging. Make sure you pick it up today and start enjoying Wahlberg and company as soon as possible.
Another must have DVD is "40 Year Old Virgin" in either the R rated or "unrated" editions. This Steve Carell movie is seventeen minutes longer in the unrated version and all of it is funny and uninhibited.
This film packed theaters during its release and it is flying off the shelves in video stores today. Carell plays Andy Stitzer, the sweet and inexperienced male who is looking for love and sex. Catherine Keener co-stars as the woman he finally finds to love. Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen and Romany Malco play his buddies.
The DVD has loads of extras and they add to the enjoyment of the film. When I saw this film in theaters I wasn't overly impressed but the DVD, and extras, make for a much more fun experience. See what all the shouting is about, Get the DVD of "40 Year Old Virgin."
Joss Whedon's "Serenity" was a TV series first. It failed. Then it became a movie, and didn't light up the box office. Does that mean it is no good? No! It means it needs a special audience to appreciate it and that audience might include you.
The film is about six members of a ship's crew who fly through space fighting for the good guys. They are rebels fleeing an assassination group and they get into one tough spot after another.
The cast includes Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Jewel Slaite, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Ron Glass, David Krumholtz and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Whew! That is a lot of actors with a lot of talent.
The DVD has extras such as deleted scenes, commentary and outtakes (my favorite). So take a chance and get this DVD. You might be just the audience member who will love it.
In the new DVD "Cry Wolf" a group of students think they have invented an evil situation through the Internet but they find it is all too terribly true. Julian Morris, Lindy Booth and Jared Padalecki star.
As always the DVD has extras such as commentaries and deleted scenes. But the main draw is the horror of the film. Get "Cry Wolf" if you are brave enough to watch.
On a lighter note there is a new DVD out of "Chicago" titled "Chicago: Razzle Dazzle." This new DVD has never before seen bonus material such as longer musical performances, song rehearsals, Liza Minnelli in a performance as Roxie, a history of "Chicago" and more and more and more. Plus you get the sparkling movie that is always worth seeing.
Don't miss any of these special features that do live up to the title of "special. This is the ultimate "Chicago" DVD set and you need to get it!
A special treat for the kids, and the adults, is "Toy Story 2: Woody's Roundup Edition." This DVD gives you a chance to watch the wonderful sequel to "Toy Story" and get more adventures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Then you get tons of extras such as deleted scenes, behind the scenes stories, musical numbers, interviews with the filmmakers, and more and more and more.
This is what your DVD player was made for so don't miss this chance to get "Toy Story 2 in the new special edition. It's a winner!
