"Romance Returns"

If you want to have a romantic evening, pick up the DVD of "The Lake House." Then plan a nice dinner at a romantic restaurant and top off the evening with the movie. You can't get a more romantic movie than the Sandra Bullock/Keanu Reeves flick. It has it all - humor, romance, sadness, and magic.

This movie has surpassed the expectations every one had for it because it touches a spot inside us that longs for romance and hope. Those who really like this movie are adamant in its support. They watch it over and over and seek converts to its story and its charm.

The story is basically that of two people living a few years apart in time. They communicate through a magic mailbox. The issue is can they ever be together or are they doomed to being apart. Watch the movie and find out the answer.

Not quite as romantic but still a good movie is "See Jane Date." Charisma ("Angel") Carpenter plays a young woman looking for a date to a wedding. Rather than admit she doesn't have anyone special to take her to the wedding, she invents a date - and then has to make him materialize.

The movie is funny and romantic. Carpenter is at her best as the dateless Jane. So have a fun evening by watching "See Jane Date."

One of the surprises of the new TV season was the renewal of "One Tree Hill." Many thought "Everwood" would get the nod by the new network, the CW, but it was "One Tree Hill" instead. So go ahead and TiVo the new season while you watch the entire third season on DVD. Yes "One Tree Hill: The Complete Third Season" is available on DVD, and even if you watched the show last year it is always best to watch it again on DVD so you can get a continuous feel of the show.

This was a season of intense drama at Tree Hill. All of the characters played by Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty and Sophia Bush to name a few, were caught up in one traumatic event or another.

Watch the romance (that word again), the tension and the drama as life goes on for the people who inhabit "One Tree Hill."

A few years ago there was a fairly successful movie titled "The Glass House" and it dealt with two kids who ended up with the stepparents from hell. Now we get "Glass House: The Good Mother" which is a sequel of sorts to the first film.

In this film two kids again move into what looks to be an idyllic situation but instead find they have moved into one of the worst situations possible. Angie Harmon and Joel Gretsch play the fearsome adults. Jordan Hinson and Bobby Coleman play the kids.

This is an R rated film and is not appropriate for the kids to watch. So send them off to bed and have a dramatic evening with "Glass House: The Good Mother."

Moving to a new place can be a scary event in a child's life. The new animated film "Laura's Star" can help children learn to adjust as it weaves its magic spell about a girl in a new place who finds a falling star. The star becomes her new friend and helps her adjust to the new surroundings.

This is a gentle movie that calms fears and takes the child away to a world where things are going to be alright. This "visit" helps add security to a strange situation. "Laura's Star" is a fantasy animated film that has its heart and its intentions in all the right places.
