"The Rock Comes Through One More Time"
The Rock returns to the big screen to bring the videogame "Doom" to life. All of the fun of the game and the mystery it engenders have been captured in this suspenseful film. You find yourself fighting alongside "The Rock" as he goes on one dangerous mission.
The mission comes about because there has been a call to Earth from a remote outpost on Mars. The Rock leads a team of Marines to the station on Mars and finds death and danger waiting at every turn. There are some strange creatures that would like nothing better than to get a piece of the Rock.
It is all played for fun and fright so get this DVD today. The Rock is one of today's big action stars and this film lets him go all heroic on us. There may be danger aplenty on Mars but my money is on the Rock.
"Saw" has become a classic of sorts in the horror film world. If you were too faint-hearted to watch it in the theaters then you might be able to get through it on DVD. You can fast forward through the more grisly parts and study all the others.
You can take the chance to admire the acting skills of Cary Elwes, Danny Glover and newcomer Leigh Whannell. You can also keep your eyes open for the performances of Shawnee Smith and Monica Potter. But most of all you can marvel at the intensity the script and photography builds.
"Saw" is a horror of a horror movie, but it makes its points and makes them with clout. Now that it is out on DVD take the chance and watch this excellent movie of its type.
Johnny Knoxville is an acquired taste, and I haven't acquired it yet. There is some part of my mind that just can't turn loose of the fact the actor used to be best known for "Jackass: The Movie." Still I have to give him credit for making a pretty sentimental movie in "Daltry Calhoun."
In this movie, now out on DVD, Knoxville plays a man who is the hero of his small town. He has a sod farm that is the best moneymaker in town, and he also has dreams of building a golf course. But then his ex-wife shows up and leaves off their fourteen-year-old daughter. Now Daltry has to show what he is really made of, and whether or not he can come through for the one person who really depends on him.
The DVD has extras such as deleted scenes, bloopers, and a "making of" video. But the DVD is most worthwhile because the movie has a tender side. So forget "Jackass" and go for "Daltry Calhoun."
This summer there will be a new version of "The Posiedon Adventure" on the big screen. It is titled "Poseidon." While you are awaiting that event you can watch the TV version of the movie, also called "The Poseidon Adventure," that is now on DVD.
This TV movie is no slouch in the casting department either. It stars Rutger Hauer, Peter Weller, Steve Guttenberg and Adam Baldwin. They do change the plot a little as they now have terrorists causing the tipover, but just so the boat flips - that's the main thing.
The excitement, the adventure, the drama - they are all still included. So if you, like me, can never get enough "Poseidon" then get this DVD and have a new adventure with an old favorite.
If you are a "Dungeons and Dragons" fan then you will have to have the new DVD "Dungeons and Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God." This is a DVD based on the game and it is full of great visual effects and a ton of extras to help make it all a thrill to watch.
Converting the game to film was not easy and the DVD version of this movie gives a background of how it was done. There is also commentary from the experts of the game. So don't miss out on the fun of the movie and the information of the extras. Get "Dungeons and Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God."
Most of us are not smart when it comes to love and the complexities of it. Therefore the new DVD about love is correctly titled "You Stupid Man." In this film David Crumholtz plays a man who is unlucky in love. His relationship with the beautiful Chloe (Denise Richards) left him burnt out and blue.
Along comes Nadine (Milla Jovovich) who can possibly heal his hurt, but then Chloe wants to try again. Who should he choose - the old flame or the new? And if he chooses wrong, does that justify the title of the DVD?
"National Lampoon's Adam and Eve" is a film on the order of "Van Wilder," and if you saw that raucous and rowdy film you know what I am talking about. This new film on DVD is the story of a young college man intent on having pleasure enter the relationship between him and his girl. She is saying no to his entreaties and he wants her to say yes. He desperately wants her to say yes!
Cameron Douglas (son of Michael and grandson of Kirk) plays the young man, and Emmanuelle Chriqui is the object of his affection. They make a handsome pair and the joys of pursuit are everywhere. Plus in the DVD version you get the "gag reel" and the "deleted scenes."
If you are a "Von Wilder" fan you are gong to love "National Lampoon's Adam and Eve." They are birds of a feather. |
