"Wedding Gets A Warm Reception"
"Wedding Crashers" was one of the most warmly received movies of the past year. Now it is out on DVD and the reception is expected to be even stronger. This is the kind of movie that DVD's were made for - the slightly crude comedy that appeals to audiences across the board.
Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn play the two "wedding crashers." They crash wedding receptions so they can eat food, drink liquor and pick up women. And it works. At one reception they meet two bridesmaids (Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher). This time they fall hard and the results are truly comedic.
The DVD has tons of extras such as deleted scenes and commentaries, so these are bonuses you are sure to enjoy. Plus the movie is hilarious. It may get a little long in places but that is the beauty of DVD, you can click it off and return to it later.
So break out the champagne and get ready to have important guests. The "Wedding Crashers" are set to arrive and they will bring laughs and cheer to your home.
Bill Murray has become quite the renowned actor in the past few years. "Lost In Translation" really propelled him into the spotlight. His latest film, "Broken Flowers," is now out on DVD and gives you a chance to see this comedian in top form once again.
In the movie he plays a man named Don Johnston. He learns he might have a son by one of four past relationships. In order to learn the truth of this matter he goes on a cross-country excursion to talk with each of the women in his past. The four women in his past are played by Sharon Stone, Frances Conroy, Tilda Swinton and Jessica Lange.
All of the actors in this movie are good, but the storyline is slow and James Jarmusch's direction is plodding. You will tire of the characters long before the movie is over. Still Murray is an interesting actor no matter what role he is playing, so there may be some reason to watch just for him.
A TV film that is being released on DVD is "Supernova." This doomsday movie stars Luke Perry, Peter Fonda and Tia Carrere. In the film it is discovered that the sun is gong to explode and that all known existence is going to be destroyed. A team of scientists race to prevent this occurrence, but horrendous events have already begun to unfold.
This is a movie for sci-fi fans. The special effects are okay and the acting is pretty good. It is a fun film that plays well on DVD. Pick up a copy and join the fun.
Jonathan Lipnicki, Eric Stoltz and Jane Krakowski star in the warmly moving "When Zachary Beaver Came To Town." It is a coming of age movie that will touch your heart and entertain you at the same time.
Lipnicki was the kid who almost stole "Jerry Macguire" away from Tom Cruise. He has grown up a good bit in this movie and you will be surprised at how much of his talent and charm have remained.
The overall effect of this movie is good and it is sure to entertain you and your entire family.
Another TV movie now out on DVD is "Jules Verne's Mysterious Island." Patrick Stewart, Kyle MacLachland and Gabrielle Anwar star in this adventure about a group of people who crash land in a hot air balloon. This is a civil war era version of "Lost" as they land on a remote desert island.
The infamous Captain Nemo has a facility there and is conducting experiments. This leads to the mystery and the adventure.
For the kids there is "Stanley's Dinosaur Round-up." This is a seventy minute feature that allows kids to learn about some of the challenges of life by watching Stanley learn about the animal world. Stanley is a favorite of preschoolers so this tape should be a big hit with them.
Finally, another good DVD for the kids is Disney's "Timeless Tales, Volume 3." This is a collection of timeless Disney animated features, such as "Casey At the Bat," "Morris the Midget Moose," "Ben and Me" and "Little Hiawatha." They also get to see "The Wise Little Hen" in which Donald Duck made his first appearance ever.
These are all shows to treasure and they truly are timeless tales. Get them for your kids today! |
