"A Movie With A Message"
You take your moral messages where you can find them, and "My Baby's Daddy" is a good place to look. In this new to video release Eddie Griffin, Anthony Anderson and Michael Imperioli play three young men who father children and then want to participate in the baby's lives.
Now in an ideal world all mothers and fathers would be married and live happily ever after, but that is not always the case. In this film it definitely is not the situation. For one reason or another the couples do not marry and yet the fathers still want the babies around.
Griffin, Anderson and Imperioli are very good in their roles and help make this movie a good one. And if it shows how babies are the responsibility of the mother AND the father, then that is a good thing.
There is a new Pokemon character in the new film "Pokemon: Jirachi Wish Maker." The Jirachi posses magical powers which enables it to grant wishes. In this movie all of the Pokemon characters must act to keep Jirachi from falling into the hands of those who are evil, especially a scientist named Butler.
As an extra treat there is a short on the DVD and VHS titled "Gotta Dance." There are also some extras on the DVD such as a message form the Director of the film, a musical video, and some "trivia" information.
"Power Rangers Dinothunder: Day of the Dino Volume 1" is another new kids' treat out this week. In this film Power Ranger Tommy Oliver morphs some new kids into Power Ranger mold. It proves to make for an exciting time as they battle Tyranodrones.
Fans of the "Power Ranger" series will love this movie. It is more of the same type of fun and adventure.
Disney is releasing a trio of movies that have gained a "cult" following of sorts. They are (1) "Trainspotting" (2) "Cop Land," and (3) "Flirting With Disaster."
"Trainspotting" is definitely a film for adults. It gained most of its fame by being the movie that first brought Ewan McGregor to the attention of American audiences. The film is all about four friends and their lives that are made more complicated by drugs. The film is punctuated by a frenzied rock score that adds to the high energy level of the film.
"Cop Land" was supposed to have been the film that showed Sylvester Stallone's power as a dramatic actor. He did gets some acclaim but it didn't revitalize his career as much as he had hoped.
In the film Stallone plays the Sheriff of a small town. It looks peaceful on the surface but there is some real corruption underneath. The question is does Stallone's character go along to get along or does he try to clean it up. See the movie and get the answer.
Also starring in this movie are Robert DeNiro, Ray Liotta and Harvey Keitel. That's a power packed cast in an intense film.
"Flirting With Disaster" is played for laughs but has some serious moments too. Ben Stiller and Patricia Arquette play a young couple who go on a quest to find his natural parents. His adoption counselor (Tea Leoni) is also a long on this road trip.
There are a variety of adventures and fun occurrences, which culminates in the truth being found out. Ben is at his best when acting bewildered, and Leoni shines as his romantic temptation. Mary Tyler Moore, Alan Alda and Lily Tomlin are also in the cast. |
