"Kevin Spacey Strikes Again"

Kevin Spacey is one of the best actors of our time. He gives one solid performance after another. But sometimes his performances go unnoticed or unappreciated. Such was the case with his film "The Life of David Gale." It got some bad reviews and just sank beneath the surface.

Now it is out on video and hopefully it will find the audience that has eluded it. Spacey is awesome as David Gale, a man accused of rape and murder. He has been an anti death penalty proponent and now he sits on death row. Kate Winslet plays the journalist he chooses to give his last interview to, and she is in top form also.

Laura Linney almost steals the show as the woman Gale is accused of killing. She was his colleague and his friend, but she did die and the evidence all pointed to Gale. See the film and see what really happened. I don't think you will figure it out before the end arrives.

Even if the script was bad, which it isn't, this movie is worth seeing for the acting alone. Spacey, Winslet and Linney make "The Life of David Gale" worth your while.

Just for good old trashy fun watch "Final Destination 2." This is the sequel to the movie about a group of high school kids who cheated death and then found out it wouldn't be cheated. Ali Larter played the only survivor in the first movie and she is back in this one, and she is plenty worried about surviving again.

A J Cook is also in the cast, but in a movie like this one the actors don't matter. It's the means of death and the special effects. And this one has a lot of good things in store for you in those departments.

This is a fun fright film to watch. Catch it at your local video store.

If you are into talented directors, how about Atom Egoyan. He has a new film titled "Ararat." It is about a moviemaker who decides to tell the true story of the Armenian Massacre. Then you get to see the impact the roles have on the actors. Complicated stuff but Egoyan knows how to handle it.

The film is full of Egoyan favorites such as Bruce Greenwood, Eric Bogosian and Elias Koteas. They are all talented so you can't go wrong with the movie.

Another well acted but downer of a movie is "Spun." This one concerns the drug trade and trafficking in our country. You get to see how kids get hooked and handled by drug manufacturers and dealers.

Jason Swartzman stars along with Mickey Rourke and Brittany Murphy. This is a harsh film with some insight into drug use and abuse.

In "Read My Lips" there is a love story about opposites attracting. She is older, he is younger. She is practical, he is for the moment. She is good, he is bad. They are perfect for each other.

The stars of this film are Emmanuelle Devas and Victor Cassel. It is French and full of itself but that is how these movies are.

Finally there is "Felicity: Season 2." It is sophomore year time for Felicity and she is still having a heck of a time with her love life. Relive it all in this DVD collection with extras such as commentary from the actors.

Keri Russell and the two Scotts star. That is Speedman and Foley.
