"The Younger Wayans Strike Again"
Shawn and Marlon Wayans go all Paris Hilton-ish on us as they don makeup to portray two "white chicks" in the movie "White Chicks." This film about FBI agents going way under cover is a nutty funny film made great by the performances of the Wayans Brothers.
You can watch either the R rated or unrated versions of this movie. The unrated is of course a little bit more crude and in some instances a bit funnier. But in either version the Wayans - Shawn and Marlon - make the film more than it should be. They are go for broke guys who sacrifice all for their art.
Disney gave young girls a true heroine when it introduced the world to "Mulan." This time out the girl was not just a pretty face, she was a warrior. She could fight in battles and yet stay true to who she was. It was a powerful movie and it gave a message of power to girls who had only seen boys as heroes.
Now "Mulan" is back again on a new DVD version that features a lot of bonuses such as never before seen scenes, a new song "Keep Em Guessing," and even a new game that can be played. Still the best part of the DVD is the feature film "Mulan" which has a great story and inspiring songs.
Ming Na Wen and Donny Osmond voice the two human leads in the film but it is Eddie Murphy who runs away with the film as the voice of the dragon, who is Mulan's companion and confidant. He is the comedy relief in the story and he plays it to the hilt.
"Mulan" is another Disney masterpiece. Make sure you get it for your children today. You might just want to watch it too!
The horror film of the week is a wildly titled movie called "Frankenfish" and yes it is about monster fish. These vile creatures aren't just dangerous in the water; they can come on land in search of food. No one is safe.
This is the type of movie that is a hoot to watch. Gather a group and get some food and have a grand time hooting and hollering at the bizarre reptiles that are hungry for flesh. Brrrr!
Filmmaker Louis Schwartzberg gives us a positive approach to our country in "America's Heart and Soul." In this film he focuses on real people who have wonderful stories in their lives. They personify the American ideals and the American dream.
We have so much negative offered to us every day that this movie is a refreshing change. Schwartzberg made it his mission to find positive people and stories and he succeeded magnificently.
The animation is the selling point of "Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui." This CGI film takes us to worlds beyond our imaginations, and features characters that spring forth from the moviemakers vivid mind.
This movie will appeal to kids of all ages and they will enter these new worlds and places with open minds and no hesitation. Adults will take longer to adapt but they too will enjoy the magic that is the world of "Bionicle."
In the Italian film "I'm Not Scared" there is a shocking secret lurking beneath the surface of the town where ten-year-old Michele (Guiseppe Cristiano) is spending his summer. And as the days progress he gets more and more involved. When the secret is finally uncovered it may have more of an impact on his life than he at first suspects.
This is a haunting film that will stay with you long after the movie is finished. And the performance of Cristiano will haunt your memories of the film.
The Baby Einstein series is one of the most popular and informative video series available. Now that company gives you "Baby Noah Animal Expedition." In this learning video your child gets a chance to see and explore the world of nature. Many, many animals are featured and this is a chance to give your child the names that go with each beast.
Your child will learn without knowing lessons are being taught. It is a visual method and one that works. You will be amazed at the impact this video will have on your child. |
